There is mounting pressure to mitigate the effects of climate change that is resulting from anthropogenic emission of greenhouse gases. Using natural ecosystem processes is a potentially effective way to capture carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the biomass. We use models of tree growth and mortality to assess forest carbon storage capacity across ecosystems.
